“Conspicuous military drills in the south of the country, not far from the Ukraine border,” on December 5, 2014 , Reuters reports. “Russian officials say the exercises are design to allow their pilots to practice their skills on new fighter jets and bombers.”[1]

On December 5, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking after a meeting of foreign ministers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE), said: "Our Western colleagues, some European countries but Americans first and foremost ... if they want to try to present us as the main culprits, which is what they are constantly doing ... this is not right, this won't work."[2]

Although weakened form the latest economic events, Russia continues its prestige and intimidation policy, presenting the new fighter jets and bombers trying to send the message that the potential financial problems they might be facing will not trigger changes in the foreign policy approaches, at least not  for the moment.
